Blog Entry 3

The Great Gatsby- A good book with minor twists and an uninteresting plot.

The novel takes place in the year of 1922 and begins with Nick, a young male who is naive, reckless, but has a kind heart, moving to the town of West Egg where he seeks out work and a life. Nick served in the army during the war and one would expect him to be intelligent and strong. However, in the novel it shows him as a weak character that does nothing but narrate the story. When Nick meets Gatsby, the main character who is mysterious and extremely wealthy, Nick tries to find out his past and motives for moving to west egg. Daisy, who is Nick's cousin, is hunted by Gatsby for her love, but she is already married to the wealthy Tom. The story unravels the mysterious past and mind of Gatsby as the main themes of deception and greed are portrayed throughout the plot.

Overall I think the book is a good read, but not great. The plot is boring at first and takes a long time to get interested, but if you stick with it, the book is good.
